Michael “Mike” Dotson, 78, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025. Born on September 1, 1946, Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Katherine Dotson, and is survived by his daughter, Theresa Howell (Tim); sons, Christopher Dotson (Becky) and Michael Dotson II; grandchildren, Levi Howell, Cheyanne Toney (Noah), Lily Dotson, Bennett Dotson, Colin Dotson, and Harper Dotson; and a great-grandson, whose arrival is awaited with much love.

Mike moved his family to Gainesville in the 1970s from Tampa, where he built a life rich in both family and professional achievement. A seasoned broadcaster, Mike's early career focus was on sportscasting, where he had the privilege of covering University of Florida sports teams. His passion for broadcasting left a lasting impact on the community, and his contributions were cherished by many. Mike will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his warm and caring nature, and his commitment to his work. He was a man of integrity and kindness, and his legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.

A graveside service with military honors to celebrate Mike’s life will be held Monday, February 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Meadows Cemetery, 4100 NW 39th Ave, Gainesville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rathbun House in Asheville, NC.
