Doug and I spent our senior year at Northeast and our time at SPJC together. I told him I had enlisted in the Air Force. My draft status had changed to 1-A and I was sure I was going to be drafted. His comment was "Are you crazy, you're a student, they're not going to draft you, my draft status was changed too, I'm still a student and I won't be drafted". Less than a week after that conversation, Doug got his notice and he left for the Army two days before I left for the Air Force. We both went to Viet Nam and returned home safely. Our paths went in different directions after the military but we reconnected when he was my daughter's Algebra teacher at Morgan Fitzgerald Middle School.
Doug was born Feb 17th 1946 in Spencer, W Virginia. He rests at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, FL
