Last night's banquet was the end to a perfect weekend!  It was a fine tribute to the reunion committee that there were so many attendees that our "class" picture had to be divided into two - just as we were graduated - in two sessions. The event was obviously the product of a lot of diligent planning and thoughtful ideas.  The effort of finding the classmates, getting messages out, following up and then keeping everyone aware of who was coming was a big job and handled so well.  A big thank you to all of you who coordinated it.  It was a great success.

For a job well done, I tip my hat to all those classmates who sacrificed their time and energy over the past several months in organizing the reunion.  This past weekend proved to be an excellent adventure for both myself and my wife.  My only regret is that I did not get a chance to speak with everyone.   But, I will make every effort to correct that the next time there is a meeting of the ’64 Vikings.

I do not know how many of you remember John Ranschaert who was a class ahead of us. He passed away this morning at 5:30 in Elkhark, IN after a short illness. He has been my friend since high school and I will miss him dearly.

We spent three days out at St. Pete Beach following the reunion so I'm just getting around to posting.  Everything about the reunion was wonderful.  We had not been back to St. Pete in years and to see the transformation of the downtown and all out 4th Street North was amazing.  Who would of thought nightlife in downtown St. Pete would be what it is now.  Thank you to the committee for a well-planned and fun reunion.  There's no way to get around the awkwardness of meeting classmates after 50 years, so we just sucked it up and stared at the name tags (thank goodness for those).  So many stories in so little time.  Looking forward to the 55th.  The school trip was eye-opening.  The care and pride at current day NEHI is palpable and the many programs that have been added are keeping up with the times - a student run charted credit union, auto mechanics program, culinary arts, special needs kids program and more.  I'm so glad we attended.  We are the Vikings, mighty, mighty Vikings!
